San Diego Drum Lessons and Studio West present an evening with Rich Redmond! Yes, I am pleased to tell you that this event is 100% confirmed – please click here for full details. I strongly advise anyone interested in attending this event to book tickets as soon as possible. The event is already over half sold, and that’s before Studio West start their own campaign. Since I announced the show last month, I am delighted that Drum Workshop (DW Drums), Sabian Cymbals, Pro Mark Drum Sticks and Remo Drum Heads are all on-board, co-sponsoring the event.
I recently returned from Las Vegas, where I was lucky to see the new Elton John show: The Million Dollar Piano. Anyone that knows me will already know that I am massive fan of Elton’s drummer Nigel Olsson, and percussionist John Mahon, but it was a real treat that this show features the legendary British Percussionist Ray Cooper. His biography is very impressive indeed, and although he doesn’t have an official website, you can see his page on Drummerworld.com, by clicking here. By the way, if you have never seen it, Drummerworld.com is a fantastic on-line resource to learn about drummers and percussionists – check it out! So if you decide to go and see the show for yourself, be prepared for a real drum and percussion extravaganza! The ticket prices are typically Vegas high – but worth every cent.
Playing-wise; I have a couple of things in the mix right now that I’m pretty excited about. I am working in the studio with some local writers, and have been working hard on my own playing in the last few weeks. This has mainly involved working on my jazz, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban chops – it has been very humbling indeed, but hugely rewarding at the same time. I got a call last week to come in as a sub for the show “Memphis”. Unfortunately I had to turn it down due to the said Elton John concert, but it’s always nice to get called for these things, as I have been working hard over the last two years to build a name for myself on the local theatre scene – something I love to do.
Thanks for checking in!
